This is information which came from a good friend.

Once again, our enemy Satan the Devil has used a situation to his advantage. He has used one person to create policies and practices that would continue over time to create a cult that would destroy families, lives, and consciences, resulting in some very burdened minds.
In 1918, Joseph Rutherford was in prison with 11 other Jehovah’s Witnesses for espionage, having written things against military service in The Finished Mystery. It was found that in the Watchtower House, there was transmitters and receivers which would enable them to spy on the United States for the Nazis.
Rutherford was so angry and bitter at being put in jail for this that he made this statement: “If I ever get out of this prison, I will cut the guts out of Christendom” When he got out, he did just that. He wrote articles and books which outlined his plan to create enmity between his organization and mainstream Christianity. Satan used his sick mind to do this. He forbid Jehovah’s Witness to celebrate birthdays, religious holidays, to vote, to enter the military, to celebrate national holidays, to salute the flag, actually to behave normally in society. Then he put into play the shunning practices that he wanted this organization to observe, and this destroyed families, relationships, and mental stability. Is it any wonder that there are murders, suicides, etc., in this organization? The only worse thing could be pedophilia, and that has occurred too, with the resultant refusal to report these instances to the police, and that stems from Rutherford’s bitterness against the police because of his incarceration.
So Jehovah’s Witnesses are forbidden to read any books, newspapers, magazines, except the Watchtower, and the Kingdom Ministry, a paper which contains a prescribed method of preaching which Jehovah’s Witnesses are expected to adhere to rigidly. They cannot watch TV shows, because all the elders have seen them and they know which ones are bad and which ones are worse. Also they have seen all the movies that they don’t want people to see as well.
An incident comes to my mind which happened when my family and I attended the Oshkosh Congregation. The presiding Overseer said from the podium that there were laws which only applied to Oshkosh Congregation. This guy apparently had a self complex of some kind, for he seemed quite narcissistic.
I for one would like to know where they get these guys who are as sick as Rutherford was.
